Intelligent Toilets and beyond: From fundamental to translational light-matter interactions, using nanophotonics to detect atoms, molecules, and nanostructures, and to control them with light. Relevant to this initiative is a range of recent work on using advanced Raman spectroscopies enhanced a billion-fold by Au nanoparticle self-assemblies, to detect analytes in biofluids such as urine or breath. The aim is to translate detection of neurotransmitters and hormones to the home.
